Since it’s mere hours until the London 2012 Olympic Games start, I thought I’d reminisce about the last Olympics — Vancouver 2010.

The Olympic Torch came through my neighbourhood (literally on my street) on November 19, 2009.

Me, my brother, and a few of my friends stood outside to watch it pass.

Then later that night we went downtown where Sidney Crosby was going to run through with the torch.

There were a few in the crowd wearing Calgary ‘88 outfits. I can’t remember if there were any Montreal ‘76 outfits.

In my high school diary, just before the Athens 2004 Olympics opened, I wrote how my brother, Matt, wanted to carry the torch in Vancouver…

He didn’t carry it, but he got to hold it at the end of the night.
